The Mayor of the City of Las Vegas Carolyn Goodman has been making headlines this past week for all the wrong reasons.
During a city council meeting last Wednesday, Goodman ranted about wanting the casinos and hotels reopened because the coronavirus lockdown was “total insanity”.
“For heaven’s sake,” “being closed is killing us already, and killing Las Vegas, our industry, our convention and tourism business that we have all worked so hard to build.
The longer we wait to do this, the more impossible it will become to recover.”“This shutdown has become one of total insanity, in my opinion,” “For there is no backup of data as to why we are shutdown from the start. No plan in place how to move through the shutdown or how even to come out of it.”
Goodman’s went on CNN to talk to Anderson Cooper to defend her position in a completely bizarre fashion.
During the interview, Goodman told Cooper she had no plan in place to keep people safe from the virus if casinos reopened because that’s not her job. She went on to call Cooper an alarmist and said the casinos, not her, were responsible to keep people safe from the virus.

She would later continue to advocate for casinos to be reopened because “we’ve had viruses for years that have been here”
