Stranger Things fans are not going to like this bit of news, but the show’s creators originally planned for one of the kids to be killed, AND David Harbour says even the beloved Chief Hopper isn’t safe.
Apparently when they began creating Stranger Things, the Duffer Brothers didn’t really think that the show would last more than one season.
So you can imagine how that might have changed a whole lot of what actually happened in season one.One of those things that was supposed to happen, based on their assumption, was that one of the main characters, if not THE main character, was not going to survive.
While speaking at Chapman University, CinemaBlend reports the shocking revelation that Ross Duffer shared during a Q&A session.
Maybe I shouldn’t say this because I like to pretend that it was all planned out, but it was originally pitched as a limited series. So it was like, Eleven was gonna sacrifice herself and save the world and then that was gonna be it, because there was a moment where limited series were a big deal.
So, uh, basically we the fans, because we demanded another season and would have flat-out rioted if Eleven didn’t return for season two, are the only reason that she is still alive today. Good job, us.
