Tampa Bay Rays Players Won’t Stop Hitting Home Runs At A Record-Setting Pace

The Tampa Bay Rays have been on an absolute heater to start the 2023 MLB season. They hold the best record in baseball at 32-11 in a division so stacked that AL East teams currently hold all 3 AL Wild Card spots.

Historically, the Tampa Bay Rays have remained a competitive team on the back of incredible pitching.

And they’re continuing that streak this year with the second-best ERA in baseball.

But it is Tampa’s hitting has helped them crush teams so far this season. They Rays have the most home runs in baseball (84), with the next closest teams trailing 13 HRs behind through 43 games.

The Rays also lead the MLB in Hits, RBIs, Runs Scored, 5th in Doubles, and 4th in Stolen Bases. And as the tweet below suggests, it isn’t just one player driving the surge like Aaron Judge did with the Yankees last year.

And theoretically Manuel Margot (2 HR) + Francisco Mejía (1) still have 2+ more games to add to that thru-45 gm total. Tampa’s offensive explosion is as balanced as a manager could possibly want it to be.”

Carlos Peña is the only player in Tampa Bay Rays history to hit over 40 home runs in a season when he had 46 in 2007. Brandon Lowe came close to hitting 40 in 2021 when he had 39 HRs.

Tampa currently has a 4.5 game lead over the Orioles in the AL East. 4 of the 5 teams in the AL East have a better record than the AL Central division leader.
