Kentucky’s New Transfer Running Back Is 233 Pounds Of Pure Muscle And Built Like The Hulk

Chip Trayanum

Kentucky running back DeaMonte ‘Chip’ Trayanum is an absolute unit. He is slated to start for the Wildcats during the 2024 college football season and it looks like he will be impossible to bring down.

Trayanum, a former four-star recruit in the Class of 2020, will finish out his eligibility in Lexington after two years at Arizona State and two years at Ohio State.

The 5-foot-11, 233-pound ball-carrier enrolled in time for the spring semester and joined his teammates for winter workouts.

To say that he has been working hard in the weight room would be an understatement. Trayanum is yoked.

And look at the size of his quads!

Interestingly enough, he was actually slated to play linebacker for the Buckeyes upon arrival to Columbus. Depth concerns ultimately thrust him into action at running back and he started last year’s game against Michigan after scoring the game-winning touchdown against Notre Dame.

While Trayanum might look like a bruiser, because he is, defenses would be advised to keep him from reaching the second level. He can scoot!

Despite his talent, Trayanum never got the opportunity to shine during his two years at either school. There were not enough carries alongside Rachaad White, Jayden Daniels, Miyan Williams, Dallan Hayden and TreVeyon Henderson.

  • Arizona State
    • 2020: 49 carries, 290 yards, four touchdowns
    • 2021: 78 carries, 402 yards, six touchdowns
  • Ohio State
    • 2022: 15 carries, 92 yards, zero touchdowns
    • 2023: 85 carries, 373 yards, three touchdowns

This could be a breakout season for Trayanum. Ray Davis went for 1,129 yards and 14 touchdowns on 199 touches for Kentucky last season. He will have the opportunity to replicate that role in 2024.

Chip Trayanum is the guy!

All of the carries will go Trayanum’s way. His head coach is thrilled about his potential!

Chip Trayanum is one heck of a football player […]

Extremely mature. Extremely hard working. Great fit for us and for our culture. Very physical running back. Very excited about him.

— Mark Stoops

Trayanum has averaged 5.1 yards per touch throughout his college career. It does not appear as though that number will take a significant hit during the final season.

Based on the sheer size of him, defenses are going to have a very hard time taking Traynum to the ground!
