South Carolina wide receiver Xavier Legette measured much shorter than expected ahead of the NFL Draft. Taking part in Senior Bowl festivities this week, the pass catcher is looking to improve his pro stock.
Unfortunately, his height has now come into question.
Legette was listed at 6-3 this season on the Gamecocks’ official athletics website, a prototypical size for an NFL wideout. That size, along with his incredible production on the field helped him quickly climb mock draft boards.
Legette hauled in a team-leading 71 receptions for 1,255 yards last year, flashing both speed and an ability to make contested catches. The man just made plays on his way to becoming a breakout star in the SEC.

Scouts were left disappointed with his measurements at the Senior Bowl on Monday, though.
Legette’s official height came in more than two inches shorter than what was listed in his Gamecocks bio.
Many who gave DK Metcalf draft comps quickly changed their opinion.
Xavier Legette was listed at 6’3″ 227 lbs. The Senior Bowl has him verified at 6007 219. That’s a biiiiiig height difference.

Standing near or under 6-1 could certainly stunt his draft stock, though his other measurables should at least keep him in the first-round conversation. He still boasts 4.3 wheels and incredible strength for the wideout position.
The narrative has certainly changed, though.
Thanks @T_MeLLoWz15 & @DuncOnDemand for the tip.
I didn’t realize Xavier Legette measured at just under 6’1 at the Senior Bowl. He has been listed as being 6’3.

Pro Football Focus’s latest mock draft listed Legette as the No. 25 overall pick to the Chiefs, though others see him as an early second-round prospect.
Legette’s height might just be the deciding factor.
