Was Jason Voorhees From ‘Friday The 13th’ Misunderstood? Grunt Style’s ‘Violent But True’ Series Breaks It Down

Grunt Style's Violent but True series breaks down Jason Voorhees and Friday the 13th
Grunt Style's Violent but True series breaks down Jason Voorhees and Friday the 13th

It’s almost Halloween, so it’s time to turn down the lights and tune up a classic horror movie. I always love a good slasher, and how could you do much better than everyone’s favorite hockey mask and machete monster, Jason Voorhees?

Seems fitting considering we actually got a Friday the 13th in October.

We’ve all probably seen at least one movie in the  Friday the 13th series (I’m partial to Jason X, aka “Jason in Space”). You know what to expect: a group of good-looking young people chock full of libido get dismembered one by one by Jason. One thing that never really gets addressed in the movies: why is Jason so bloodthirsty? Grunt Style and American Grit have some interesting theories as part of their “Violent but True” video series.

What if Jason had a legitimate reason to murder all of those randy teenagers? According to VBT, Jason survived the alleged drowning incident and served in Vietnam. Upon arriving home, he learned about the death of his mother (the murderer in the first movie) and sought revenge.

Ultimately, he just wanted to be left alone to live a quiet life in the woods. But, those pesky kids keep showing up and can’t keep it in their pants, so Jason’s got more slashing to do. Truly a tragic figure.

Conclusion: Jason Voorhees and John Rambo are essentially the same person. I don’t think we have to think about it any deeper than that.
