Former Florida Gators football player Mark Thompson is accused of scamming “numerous” people by pretending to sell his gear. However, some of the gear supposedly never came.
If true, it is a bad look for the 29-year-old Houston Roughnecks running back.
Dave, of Dave’s Freshly Used, recently took his allegations public.
He runs an online store that is specific to vintage University of Florida clothing and merchandise, and claims that he was a victim of Thompson’s fraudulent behavior.Former Florida Gators football player Mark Thompson scammed me and numerous other people. I was fortunate enough to recover some of my money (not all), while others are out several hundred dollars. I hate nothing in this world more than a thief.

Thompson posted on X to announce that he was going to sell a bunch of his old gear in late January.
Selling Gator Football memorabilia if you see something you want let me know I’ll DM you and we can work out a price. Everything in this chest is extra, I’ve already framed and put what mattered the most to me in safe places. #GatorNation #GatorGang #Gators #UF #Football pic.twitter.com/uOsz6yz6Ga

Dave hit him up and initially sent him $570, followed by an additional $160. Unfortunately, he says that Thompson did not send the items in return for payment.
The online reseller received the $570 back after discovering the alleged scam, because he sent the money on PayPal, but is out $160. Thompson apparently is not returning the money to the people who sent him money in exchange for his merchandise.
Dave also provided screenshots of his conversation with @InMarkWeTrust on X— Thompson’s official account. They date back to January 22.
The running back seemingly agreed to sell one of his jerseys and a pair of gloves for $550. He later threw in a pair of socks for an additional $20.
Dave was hesitant to move forward with the sale because he “had some issues in the past with not so honest players” but Thompson ensured it was legit. They later circled back for a separate purchase of a pair of “green swamp pants” and a hat. The second transaction took place on Cash App.
That was on January 28. It is now March 15 and Dave claims that the gear has yet to arrive. He says that other people who went through Thompson also have not received the things they thought they bought.

Although Thompson has yet to address these allegations, he posted twice in January about packages that were being sent out. The first was on Jan. 27.
Inventory definitely running low now, another shipment out. Message me to find out what’s left.

The second was an apology for a delay on Jan. 30.
I went to apologize to everyone for the delayed packages. I had personal stuff to deal with (nothing bad) so I had to put a lot of my obligations on pause. More Tracking numbers will be sent out today and finishing up all orders this week. Feel free to contact me for anything! pic.twitter.com/FvIjXYpHIr

Florida Gators reporter Nick de la Torre issued a warning about Thompson on Feb. 7. A fan replied back to say that his order arrived without any problems.
My order came in with no issues. He even provided tracking. pic.twitter.com/GzukDyGqqe

Thompson issued a response on the 8th.
Some packages may be delayed till further notice due to the pain and suffering Nick De La Torre’s tweet has caused me. Having a difficult time coping with the damages his tweet has done to my brand. I am not FedEx bih, Go Gators!

He again posted a photo of a package.
Appreciate this bro! Some people want things done on their time but I never promised that. All they’re doing is slowing up their resolution.
thank you for your service once again! Go Gators!

Thompson doubled (if not tripled or quadrupled) down on the 11th.
Every1 who agreed with Nikki and also received a message from me this morning will be getting a refund, you know who you are. If you do not feel like waiting for that, I told you what you can do. Now, If you didn’t receive a message or question from me. You’re good, give me time.

When you’re at an airport and your flight gets delayed majority of the time they don’t tell you why the flight is delayed. It’s just delayed. Complain, whine, and pout all you want… You’re still going to get on that plane when it arrives.
— Mark Thompson (@InMarkWeTrust)
That did not stop people from claiming that he had scammed them.
I didn’t block you, I got tired of you crying in my dm so I made it so you couldn’t write me anymore. Go coach them kids.

Others also posted that they had received what they ordered.

Mark Thompson has not posted about his gear sale since Feb. 13. Dave claims that his purchase never arrived. Will the truth come out?!
