As a general rule, I like to avoid talking about issues using group identifiers. But this is the exception to the rule. What you are about to witness is one giant Sketchers Shape Up step back for white people everywhere. Dave and Busters locations nationwide will fly their flags at half mast. Phish concerts will have a moment of silence.
Guys in Patagonia jackets are collectively pouring out their excessively hoppy craft IPAs as tribute. Girls in North Face jackets, bedazzled iPhone cases, and UGG boots are doing the same with their cappa frappacinos. I’m catching wind that Tom Brady is planning on kneeling during the National Anthem at the Super Bowl.Somewhere Ed Sheeran is shaking his head calling these dudes the whitest guys alive under his breath. And that dude needs SPF 30 in a snowstorm.
Ok, I think the point has been made.
So a little context about the video: It was originally posted in 2012 which I’m actually just realizing now, but I’m not going to abandon the post because I’ve already written a whole paragraph and my fingers hurt. It is a student-made hype video for the Missouri Men’s basketball team, who finished the season 30-5 in their last season in the Big 12 before joining the SEC.
Missouri would go on to lose in the first round of the NCAA tournament that year to 15-seeded Norfolk State. No word on whether this video played a role in the loss.
