During the Super Bowl festivities leading up to last weekend’s big game, former NFL quarterback Eli Manning made an appearance on the Great Dane Nation podcast. The show, hosted by Hall of Fame kicker Morten Andersen, touched on a variety of topics in Manning’s interview.
Not surprisingly, one of those topics was Eli’s nephew, Arch Manning, who’s the top-rated passer in the 2023 high school recruiting class.
Eli Manning was an All-American signal caller at Ole Miss between 2000-2003. Twice he threw for more than 3,000 yards in a season, leading the SEC in passing yards as a senior. He’d go on to be a first-round pick following those four seasons in Oxford, winning a pair of Super Bowl titles with the New York Giants.
Now, the next generation of Mannings is coming through the high school ranks.
Both Eli and his father, Archie, attended Ole Miss. Andersen asked the two-time Super Bowl MVP whether his nephew would be the next to continue the tradition.
Will Arch Manning Wind Up At Ole Miss?
“It’s all based on the kid and who he has a great relationship with, what coaches, what city and school where he feels he’ll be comfortable and grow and be the player he wants to be and the student he wants to be. It’s all up to him and his feel. We’ll support him and whatever school he goes to for those four years, if it’s not Ole Miss, hey, I’ll be a fan for a brief moment for those four years.”
Eli evaded the question quicker than he did a Patriots’ defender charging at him in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XLII.
Manning gave little insight as to where his nephew would be playing his college ball. Rather, he simply said, “It’s hard to go wrong,” when picking between his Arch’s finalists.
Those four finalists include Ole Miss, Alabama, Georgia, and Texas. Florida and LSU may be gaining consideration, too.
This recruitment is far from over, so we’ll have to wait and see whether or not the Ole Miss Rebels are able to land a third Manning signal caller.
