Caitlin Clark Breaks Yet Another Record Shortly After Becoming NCAA All-Tine Scoring Leader

Iowa Hawkeyes superstar Caitlin Clark is, by almost any measure, an absolute phenom.

The senior guard broke the NCAA Division I women’s basketball all-time scoring record last week when she dropped a career-high 49 points on the Michigan Wolverines.

But as it turns out, she wasn’t done there. Clark also broke another record.

But this one came off the court.

The future No. 1 overall pick in the WNBA draft surpassed Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders to become Fanatics’ top-selling NIL athlete, according to A.J. Perez of Front Office Sports.

“To take that spot, Clark passed Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders in total sales since Fanatics began selling athlete-branded college gear in 2022, one year after the Supreme Court’s unanimous decision in the NCAA v. Alston case that led to the first NIL guidelines,” Perez writes. “According to Fanatics, the gear that pushed Clark over the top included a T-shirt bearing the “You break it, you own it” slogan that Nike featured on social media after Clark set the scoring record.”

Caitlin Clark Could Absolutely Destroy Previous Scoring Record

Clark currently sits at 3,569 points, 42 points past previous record-holder Kelsey Plum. That number figures to grow significantly as well. The Hawkeyes have four more games in the regular season. They’ll then head to the Big Ten and NCAA Tournaments where Iowa is expected to make a pair of lengthy runs.

4,000 points is probably a bit of a stretch. But with as many as 13 games left in the season, it’s not entirely impossible.

How is Clark handling it all? Well, as normally as possible.

“Obviously, basketball consumes a lot of my time, especially when we’re in season,” she said in a recent press conference. “I’m still a college kid. I still clean my apartment, do my laundry. A lot of times I call my mom to come do it for me. But other than that, I play video games and hang out with my friends. Do some schoolwork here and there.

“I think definitely getting off my phone and just living in the moment and enjoying that has been really important for myself, just soaking in every single second. Like, it’s crazy. We only have five regular-season basketball games left. So I’m just trying to enjoy that, honestly.”

Clark’s record will likely be broken one day. But whoever wants to do so is going to have quite the task on their hands.
