Oscar De La Hoya Says He Beats Canelo Alvarez ‘Easy’ If They Fought In Their Primes

Former boxing champ turned promoter Oscar De La Hoya is confident that he would have beaten Canelo Alvarez if they had both fought in their primes.

Alvarez is currently fighting De La Hoya’s fighter Jaime Munguia on May 4th.

While speaking to the media, De La Hoya was asked who would win between him and Alvarez at 154 pounds if they both fought in their primes.

Without missing a beat, the Golden Boy promoter explained why he would have easily handled Canelo.

“Easy, hands down. Oh easy, nobody, can stop this jab. In my prime? Oh my footwork was impeccable when you have heavy legs and heavy feet, and you’re walking on quicksand.”

“A fighter like me, I would have probably have Floyd (Mayweather) sr. training me. It probably would be a walk in the park.”

I’m sure Canelo would probably disagree with De La Hoya’s assessment of a fight between the two in their primes.
