Now that the five-year period that NFL teams must wait after changing their uniforms has expired, the New York Jets are righting the wrongs that they made in 2019 when they introduced arguably the league’s worst logo and jersey combination.
While the Jets’ look from the late 90s, early 2000s, and 2010s was certainly never considered among the NFL’s finest, it was far better than what Jets fans have put up with in recent years, as evidenced by the lifeless and childish logo in the photo above you.
After what’s been decades of the fanbase begging them to sport something similar to their beloved (and actually somewhat iconic courtesy of the New York Sack Exchange) 1980s look, the Jets have once again changed their logo and uniforms, this time, finally, listening to the fans.
While the uniforms are new in the sense that they’re now the Jets’ default look, they’re not entirely new as they’ve been used as recently as last year, including when Aaron Rodgers made his ill-fated Jets debut.
As mentioned above, the logo comes from the Jets’ past and is widely considered by fans (of which I’m unfortunately one) to be the best in the franchise’s history. The logo was introduced in 1978 and stuck around for 20 years until it was replaced in 1998.
It’s certainly great timing for the Jets to be able to introduce new uniforms as they’ll now be able to add the Deion Sanders’ mentality of “look good, feel good, play good” mentality to a team looking to break a 13-year-long playoff drought.
In addition to the unveiling of their new uniforms, Monday, April 15 also featured Aaron Rodgers’ showing up to the team’s facility for practice for the first time since tearing his Achilles four snaps into his career with Gang Green on Monday, September 11, 2023.
