Bill Polian Admits He Was Wrong About Saying Lamar Jackson Should Convert To WR, NFL Twitter Piles It On Anyway

After nearly two full years, former former Indianapolis Colts general manager Bill Polian has mustered the strength to admit defeat in his freezing cold take of Baltimore Ravens wide receiver quarterback Lamar Jackson.

Polian, who doesn’t exactly have a squeaky clean drafting history, came under fire prior to the 2018 NFL draft when he declared that the Louisville product would need to pull a Terrelle Pryor/Julian Edelman and convert to wide receiver if he stands a chance in the NFL.

The 22-year-old Jackson is having an MVP-worthy season, throwing for 12 touchdowns and five interceptions while rushing for 637 yards and 5 scores. He holds a 12-3 record as a starter, is the youngest QB to ever start a playoff game, the youngest to ever record a perfect passer rating, and helms the league’s number one scoring offense.

Polian has recently admitted that his assessment of Jackson was as bad as, I don’t know, passing on Maurice Jones-Drew.

“I was wrong, because I used the old, traditional quarterback standard with him, which is clearly why John Harbaugh and  Ozzie Newsome were more prescient than I was,” Polian told USA TODAY Sports on Tuesday, referring to the Baltimore Ravens coach and former GM who drafted the explosive, multi-dimensional talent with the final pick in the first round in 2018.
