The Los Angeles Lakers are not good, they’re bad, in fact.

Sitting at 27-33 on the year, it’s safe to say that putting Russell Westbrook alongside LeBron James on a roster of older guys has failed miserably.

As things continue to spiral in Laker Land, speculation about LeBron James’ future in L.A. has started to pick up. Perhaps he could look to be dealt or the Lakers blow the roster up and build a new team around him.

Shaquille O’Neal thinks the latter is the only option the Lakers should be considering.

The former Laker joined CNBC on Tuesday and while the focus of the conversation was on cryptocurrency, he did take the time to send a stern message to the Lakers.

“If you trade LeBron, you’ll never win again,” O’Neal said, according to the New York Post. “You have to make a decision. If you put LeBron around the right guys, they are definitely going to win. I think whoever put the team together needs to step up and try and fix it.”

Despite the turmoil around him, James has had a very strong season up to this point. He can’t help the fact that Westbrook has been abysmal and Anthony Davis simply can not stay healthy.

The Lakers are coming off of back-to-back losses, with their latest coming to the hands of a bad Pelicans team.

As it stands heading into their matchup against the Mavericks on Tuesday night, the Lakers are ninth in the Western Conference. It’s hard to imagine a team with James, Westbrook, and Davis are 21.5 games out of first place, but that’s reality right now.
