The internet is learning something new about former MLB pitcher Randy Johnson. The Big Unit now spends his time snapping photographs at sporting and entertainment events.
He was recently seen posted up on the sidelines at an NFL game, which has sparked quite the reaction on social media.
The Hall of Famer has actually been doing this for some time. In fact, he often attended concerts during his playing days. The image of a 6′ 10″ Johnson standing in the front row of the audience to get the perfect angle is quite amusing.
Since then, he’s added sports and wildlife photography to his repertoire.
He once said that taking pictures was his first love, he just “happened to be really good at baseball.” While he certainly won’t take back his time on the diamond, it’s awesome to see him
Many are just now finding out about Randy Johnson’s photography career, and the reaction online is great.
I’ll say, I was in the group that didn’t realize Johnson was a professional photographer. After checking out some of his work, though, I’m impressed.
Interestingly enough, he majored in Photojournalism while attending USC before becoming an All-Star pitcher.
With folks just now learning about this post-baseball career, they’ve hopped on social media to post their reactions.
One fan hilariously

Others note the fact that Johnson played baseball as a “side-gig,” always knowing that photography is what he wanted to be doing. The Big Unit struck out the 2nd most batters in MLB history.
“Baseball became my occupation” might be the biggest flex of all-time given how good Randy Johnson was at baseball.

And you can’t comment on his work without noticing his website logo. A tribute to the bird he hit while throwing heat in an MLB game.
Always wondered if he’d been disturbed by that. Guess not.

Maybe he can team up for a collab with another former Mariner turned photographer in Ken Griffey, Jr.
Be on the lookout for Johnson at your next NFL game or concert.
