Fighter pay has been a controversial discussion within the UFC. Many believe the fighters deserve more guaranteed money while some think there is nothing wrong with the current format.
Leading up to his fight on Saturday, Sean Strickland weighed in on the topic. He’s typically pretty whacky on the mic and this doesn’t fall short of what we expect from Strickland.
MMA Junkie shares the clip of Sean Strickland talking with the media. He was asked about a statement he made, calling Dana White the businessman, and “[the fighters] are the cattle.” While the middleweight star explains himself, he makes a wild comparison between UFC fighters and pornstars.
“I’m not going to look in the mirror and think I’m LeBron James. I’m not. I’m a f*cking prostitute.”

That’s pretty far out there. We understand what he’s trying to say though, as he’s just someone willing to do anything for money. Regardless, it came off a tad bit cringy. Dana White even wants his fighters to be viewed as legitimate professional athletes. Even if the money pay controversy is out in the open. There’s a reason why UFC fighters all follow similar guidelines in terms of attire and sponsorships in every fight.
Overall, this is just a weird comparison we’re not sure many fighters will agree with. Sometimes Sean Strickland is really funny. But this whole thing feels like he was trying a bit too hard to get some laughs.
