Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is apparently a Harry Potter fan, as the warmongering Russian president referenced franchise creator J.
K. Rowling during an address on state television on Friday.Reports indicate that Putin cited the famed Harry Potter writer as an example of the West’s “cancel culture” and stated that “they are now trying to cancel our country.”
According to Putin, J.K. Rowling was canceled by Western culture because she “didn’t satisfy the demands of gender rights.” He then likened the apparent cancellation of Rowling to Russia, saying: “They are now trying to cancel our country. I’m talking about the progressive discrimination of everything to do with Russia.”

“We remember the footage when they were burning books,” he said of cancel culture. “It is impossible to imagine such a thing in our country and we are insured against this thanks to our culture. Given that Putin knows who J.K. Rowling is, you’ve got to imagine he’s aware of the existence of Voldemort, the similarly bald, ugly, pale, soulless, delusion fascist villain at the center of the story.
Strangely enough, this isn’t the first time there’s been a connection between Putin and Potter, as a group of Russian lawyers planned a suit against Warner Bros back in 2003 over apparent similarities between Putin and Dobby the elf, according to The Guardian.
