After being spotted at an NBA game with UFC president Dana White, Floyd Mayweather has announced that he is coming out of retirement in 2020.
Mayweather is teasing that he’s going to be working with the UFC to put on a “spectacular event” in the coming year.
@danawhite and I working together again to bring the world another spectacular event in 2020.
Mayweather’s unretirement comes just days after he told Reuters that he was done with boxing for good due to health and safety concerns.

The 42-year-old American, who has retired in the past only to be drawn back for another colossal payday, said he is content to hang up his gloves with an unblemished 50-0 record.
“I’ve got calls to get back into the ring, but my health is my wealth,” Mayweather told Reuters at the recent opening of a Mayweather Boxing + Fitness gym in Torrance, California.
“Boxing is a very, very brutal sport. In the last few years a lot of fighters have died inside that squared circle.”
In the interview with Reuters Mayweather said that he was interested in growing his MMA brand.
Mayweather also will continue in boxing as a promoter. He said “eventually” he will move on to mixed martial arts, but not as a competitor. Mayweather was spotted Wednesday night in Los Angeles sitting with UFC president Dana White at the NBA game between the Clippers and Celtics.
“Eventually I will move on to build my brand in MMA, but for right now I’m in boxing and boxing will always be at the top as long as I’m involved,” Mayweather said.
As of now this just looks like a PR stunt but I’m sure we’ll find out what it’s about soon enough.
