NBA Star Spencer Dinwiddie Moves Fans To Tears With Heartwarming Story About His Grandma

Spencer Dinwiddie could well be one of the NBA‘s most underappreciated players.

The 29-year-old combo guard is having perhaps his best season yet, averaging 17.7 points, 6.0 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game for the Dallas Mavericks and Brookyln Nets this year.

The Detroit Pistons selected Dinwiddie in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft, and ever since he’s proven to be a valuable asset to any team he’s played on.

While Dinwiddie isn’t one the league’s biggest stars, and likely never will be, he is considered a fan favorite.

Dinwiddie and Rooks discussed a number of topics. But the host seemed to catch Nets star off guard when she switched the topic to family.

A smile immediately came across his face. And then the words began to flow…

“I think my grandma was probably the place that I felt the most authentic and truest love in my love,” he began. “And that’s why that’s a relationship that, I mean quite honestly I don’t really talk about much.

“You know, there’s expectations that come with other relationships…My dad and mom and stuff, they love me to death. They’d take a bullet for me. But, you know, whether it be wanting me to score or wanting me to be good at this or stuff. With my grandmother it was just about just being me. I was enough. I think that is such a unique thing to feel and I think that everybody at some point in time in their life, I hope that they have a relationship that’s like that.”

Dinwiddie went on to talk about the time he spent with his grandmother before she passed and how it helped him through the grief process by know what that time meant to her.

His words immediately resonated with fans.

The stories continued to flow, each one with the same undertones.

It’s clear to see the impact Dinwiddie’s grandmother had on him as a person. And now he’s using the lessons learned from her to try and help others.
