Well, here’s something that you don’t see everyday, or, well, EVER. J.P. Crawford of the Triple-A Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs, a Philadelphia Phillies affiliate, pulled off the unimaginable on Wednesday night when he hit the rarest of the rare, not just an inside-the-park home run, but an inside-the-park grand slam.
Crawford, a shortstop in the Phillies organization, came to the plate against the Gwinnett Braves with the bases juiced and just missed hitting a legit grand slam as the ball caromed off the center field wall and started “the merry-go-round” as the very excited announcer said on the call.
The runners on base made it easily home as result of the crazy bounce off the wall, but as Crawford headed home it appeared that he would be out by a country mile. But then he hesitated, made one of the most awkward slides you’ll ever see at the professional level and was somehow called safe.
