Elton John is currently on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, and the 72-year-old legendary musician recently revealed one of his worst concert experiences of his magnificent career.
Elton John underwent a prostate cancer operation in 2017, but the surgery affected his bladder control. The medical procedure was successful, but days later, he nearly died from an infection.
The musical great was “leaking fluid” from his lymph nodes.“When I came round, they told me I’d contracted a major infection in South America,” John wrote in his autobiography Me that was released in October. Doctor’s informed Elton’s husband, David Furnish, that John was “24 hours away from death” and would have died if he didn’t get the medical treatment when he did.
But that didn’t stop Elton from getting out there and performing. In fact, two weeks after his surgery, he was playing the piano for a crowd, but he still had bladder issues, so he wore a diaper.
Sir Elton John gave a new interview to Graham Norton for the BBC, where he revealed that he wore a diaper during a 2017 concert in Las Vegas.
“If only they knew at that moment I was pissing myself,” John said during the interview titled Elton John: Uncensored. Now that is dedication. And after you wear a diaper once, do you continue to do so for the convenience of it all? Especially in his line of work where you can’t leave that piano for three hours.
Elton talked about his rivalry with Billy Joel, had a terrible fight with Tina Turner, and his favorite musical friends were Rod Stewart, John Lennon, and Freddie Mercury.
The Rocket Man also explained that he wears a toupee because he “doesn’t like being bald,” and being hairless makes him “look like Shrek.” Elton, who also has a pacemaker, doesn’t have tonsils, a prostrate, appendix or hair, and considers himself “like the bionic woman.” Elton John has a net worth of about $500 million and has the money to build himself over.
Fast forward to Elton’s farewell tour that is currently in Australia. That is where John went on an expletive-laden rant on security guards during a concert in Perth.
“Hey, you two security guards with the girls, F*ck off. Bring her back here immediately,” Elton scolded the security guards as they removed a woman from the show. “Come on you c*cks. Morons, you both are morons. You don’t treat girls like that. Leave her alone you turds.”
Elton later apologized for the tawdry language. “I apologize for the ‘c-word,’ I just hate people being assaulted, especially women by security guards,” he told the crowd at HBF Park in Western Australia. “I have a pet hate of security guards anyway.”
Elton certainly has a negative view of security guards at his concerts. Three years ago, the Hall of Fame pianist lambasted security guards during a concert at the Leicestershire County Cricket Ground with 17,000 in attendance.
