Early college football odds are already out as the season continues to creep closer.

Spring practice has wrapped up, and teams will enjoy their final break before fall practice begins.

This offseason has been headlined with NIL and transfer portal drama, as well as a few key head coaching changes.

Some of the biggest changes have come in the PAC-12, where we’ve seen major movement in the transfer portal.

Bo Nix heads to Auburn after a successful career at Auburn. Arizona State just landed a huge piece with the addition of Emory Jones from Florida.

One of the biggest movers, though, has been USC. After leaving Oklahoma, Lincoln Riley brought with him a number of former Sooners, including 5-star QB Caleb Williams.

He’s still working on adding more talent but could find it difficult following the alleged tampering accusations involving Pitt receiver Jordan Addison.

Still, Riley’s offseason success with the Trojans has many thinking that he can lead the program back to glory. Oddsmakers appear to share the same sentiment based on the opening football odds in Vegas.

Following the extensive roster changes we’ve seen at USC, the Trojans have become the favorites to win the PAC-12. But are they the best bet to take home the crown?

Many college football bettors still doubt the Trojans. Instead, they look to the reigning conference champs as the best bet.

Utah won the PAC-12 last year, posting a 10-4 record and making an appearance in the Rose Bowl. The Utes took down Oregon in the conference championship, but oddsmakers don’t see them defending their crown.

Instead, the hype is with the Trojans.

At 5/1 odds, though, laying some preseason money on the Utes looks like the best bet. A $100 wager would net a $500 profit.

They’ve shown the ability to compete, too, appearing in three of the last four PAC-12 title games. They’ve proven to be one of the league’s top teams year in and year out.

Meanwhile, USC has seen hype before and has fallen flat. Also, Lincoln Riley failed to reach the Big XII championship last year despite having the No. 2 team in the preseason polls. That roster at Oklahoma was superior to the one he’ll have with the Trojans this season.

Bettors are tuning out the preseason buzz and locking in on the team with the best value.
