The Carson Wentz era in Washington officially began on Thursday as the QB held his introductory press conference.
The former first-round pick will be suiting up for his third different team since 2020.The Wentz experiment in Indianapolis didn’t exactly go as planned. He did help lead the Colts to a 9-8 record, but they missed out on the playoffs. On top of that, it’s been reported that the Colts dealt him to Washington because he lacked leadership qualities.
But what about Wentz, why does he think the Colts decided to trade him after just one season?
Wentz was asked why he’s not in Indianapolis anymore during his introductory presser and gave a very honest answer.
“Sometimes I wonder the same, to be honest,” Wentz told Twitter
of the Washington Post. “I think it was a year that had highs and lows, ups and downs. But the way we finished, the way I finished, was horrible. It was horrible. It was tough to swallow.”
The Colts lost the final two games of the regular season, which included a win and you’re in game against the Jaguars to close out the year.
Wentz completed less than 60% of his passes over the final two games of the season throwing just two touchdowns and one interception.
Washington is of course hoping Wentz can get back to the same sort of form he showed in 2017 when he led the Eagles to the Super Bowl.
