Bill Kelly has seen some shit.
The 95-year-old Oregon resident lived through the Great Depression and was one of the first US soldiers venture into the South Pacific during World War II.
Kelly’s latest battle came in the wake of a low-grade fever and general sluggishness he began feeling on March 15. Due to a slew of underlying medical conditions including kidney disease, a congenital heart condition and high blood pressure, Kelly is exactly the kind of person the virus preys on.
This 95 year old Guam vet is a tough old cuss. “I survived Guam, I can get through this bullshit.”

The WWII vet stayed overnight at the local hospital and despite his condition improving, doctors tested Kelly for the virus and found him to be positive.
According to the New York Post, Kelly spent the first week in isolation in a bedroom and away from the four relatives he shares a home with.
One of those relatives is Isaac Ayers-Etherington, the husband of Kelly’s granddaughter, who said they treated Kelly “like a leper” during his first seven days of isolation.
Kelly drank water, watched movies, and got plenty of rest in a successful attempt to beat the virus.
In a Facebook post earlier this month, Kelly’s granddaughter, Rose, described her grandfather as “tough as nails.”
“In his words, ‘I survived the foxholes of Guam, I can get through this [coronavirus] bull—-,’” she wrote. “He has strong mental resolve. He has seen tough times and knows how to get through them.”
Dude dodged a bullet. I’m sure it’s not his first one.
