Tom Brady was on the “Dennis & Callahan” this morning and the topic of Donald Trump obviously surfaced since the Patriots QB had voiced support for him earlier this season. Given the recent remarks made by Trump, Sir Thomas was asked if he still felt the same way.
Brady, being Brady, offered the following.
“He’s always been so supportive of me — for the last 15 years, since I judged a beauty pageant for him, which was one of the very first things that I did that thought was really cool. That came along with winning the Super Bowl. He’s always invited me to play golf. I’ve always enjoyed his company.”
I see. I don’t even know where to begin. But being given the opportunity to judge a beauty pageant seems to carry some serious weight and a powerful lasting effect in the mind of No. 12. And so do invitations to play GOLF. Combine those two critical factors and it all makes complete sense.
I have but one burning question: How the hell did it take until Brady’s 20s for a guy like him to do something he thought was cool? What a weirdo.
Additionally, Brady’s response to whether or not he was supporting Trump over Ted Cruz and the rest of the field was met with the kind of uncomfortable laugh that basically screamed “oh fuck, what I am doing?”
Full comments from Brady can be heard right here:
Supporting your friends is a wonderful thing. But when that friend is Donald Trump, a simple “let’s just talk football, guys” would’ve sufficed. Gonna go ahead and wildly predict this is the last time Tom Brady talks about Trump, though I am relieved to know his “Make America Great Again” hat is still resting peacefully in his locker.
