The Chicago Bears have the number one selection of the 2023 NFL Draft and rumors are already swirling about what they’re going to do with that pick.
There is some commotion from NFL fans who believe Chicago should trade Justin Fields. As preposterous as that sounds, general manager Ryan Poles didn’t shut down that idea.
According to Sports Illustrated, Poles was asked about how the team views Justin Fields and if the Bears are considering taking a quarterback number one overall. Based on the season Fields just had, you’d think the answer would be easy. Instead, Ryan Poles kept his options open by stating, “We’re gonna do the same thing as we’ve always done. We’re gonna evaluate the draft class, and I would say this: I’d have to be absolutely blown away to make that type of decision.”
That final statement could suggest the Bears aren’t going to draft a quarterback. However, many believe Bryce Young is a better prospect than Justin Fields.
In the end, this very well could be a smart play from Ryan Poles. There are plenty of quarterback-needy teams in the league who might be willing to trade a haul for the number one pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. So, it’s possible the Bears’ general manager is gauging interest in a trade for that draft pick.
So, for that reason, we’re likely to hear rumors regarding the Bears and Justin Fields throughout the offseason. This is all too reminiscent of fans clamoring for the Philadelphia Eagles to trade Jalen Hurts, who turned into an MVP candidate.
