Deion Sanders has had some big wins in recruiting and through the transfer portal since heading to Colorado.
However, he has also lost a few of the Colorado players that were with the team when he joined to the transfer portal.
He has already seen a starting corner and one of the team’s quarterbacks head for the portal after he suggested that players should be ready to do exactly that in his first speech to the team.
Now it looks like he’ll be losing another quarterback to the transfer portal.
According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, JT Shrout is the latest Colorado Buffalo to head to the transfer portal.
Source: Colorado quarterback JT Shrout intends to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Shrout went to Tennessee in the Class of 2018 and has played at both UT and Colorado. He has 1,714 career passing yards and 12 touchdowns in 17 games.

Shrout was the starting QB for the Buffaloes for much of the 2022 season, but was definitely not going to remain the starter next season with Shedeur Sanders coming over from Jackson State with his father.
According to Thamel, Shrout will have at least one more year of eligibility wherever he goes with the possibility that he could apply for a medical redshirt for his 2021 season to add another year of eligibility.
In terms of eligibility, Shrout has one year remaining with the potential for a second if he applies for and receivers a medical redshirt. He redshirted in 2018 and missed the 2021 season with a torn ACL.

Shrout wasn’t great for Colorado last season, throwing for just 1220 yards and 7 touchdowns while also throwing 8 interceptions in 9 appearances for the Buffaloes.
He’ll still likely be able to find another program that is interested in his services even if he is just QB depth wherever he ends up.
