Golf legend Tiger Woods’ new clothing brand Sun Day Red released its first apparel collection on Wednesday to much fanfare.
Sadly, not much of that excitement emanated from golf fans as many of them reacted with significant disappointment.
“The Hunt captures the spirit of competition, chasing our passions, and the camaraderie that fuels it all,” the company wrote on Instagram and X (Twitter).
Tiger Woods appeared very enthused about the release of his new Sun Day Red “athluxury” (as opposed to athleisure, which we all know and love) collection during an appearance on The Tonight Show Tuesday night.
“It’s about athletes being first and designing something for the athlete so that we can perform at a higher level,” Woods told Jimmy Fallon about what Sun Day Red, created in conjunction with TaylorMade, is all about.
“Every detail has been meticulously designed, prioritizing the athlete first at every step, resulting in a collection that exceeds the highest standards,” Woods said in a statement.
Well, he certainly got the “luxury” part of “athluxury” correct.
Short sleeve t-shirts cost between $70 and $90. A long sleeve t-shirt will run you $85. Polo shirts range from $120 to $175. Hoodies are priced from $135 to $200. Shorts cost $135 and pants are $165. The hats are more “reasonably” priced at between $40 and $50.
Sun Day Red also offers ball markers for $50 and golf towels for $55.
With prices such as those, many golf fans were feeling some sticker shock.
“Prices are absolutely outlandish,” one person commented.
“Unbelievably absurd pricing,” read another comment.
“$175 for a polo — is it Egyptian cotton woven from a camel’s a–?” another fan asked.
There were also numerous complaints about everything from the functionality of the website and the fact that much of the selection was already unavailable to the logo and clothing itself.
“Checking out with my items was fail. Logged in and it emptied my cart. Just to do it over and over. L,” read one complaint.
8 week delivery? Seriously???

“Where are the polos that were advertised for the months leading up to the launch? Was all that just clickbait?” another fan asked.
Worst product drop of all time. How could they mess up something so easy?

“Maybe put the actual logo on the shirts. Crazy idea I know,” read another criticism.
A Tiger Woods’ clothing brand was the easiest task of all time that couldn’t have been rolled out in a worse fashion.
1) Design a sleek logo using any one of Tiger’s famous silhouettes (see: Jordan’s jumpman logo).
2) Call it Sunday Red.
3) Price it in line with other golf…

Funny thing is, regardless of all of the whining, we all know that Tiger Woods is still going to make a fortune from his new clothing brand.
