Caitlin Clark Was Absolutely Seething And Yelled In A Referee’s Face Amid Early WNBA Struggles

Caitlin Clark Angry Yell Frustrated

Caitlin Clark has struggled to find a groove in the WNBA through her first two games as a professional. The Indiana Fever are 0-2 and lost both games by a combined 57 points.

Its No. 1 overall draft pick turned the ball over 10 times in her debut on Tuesday night. She went only 2-for-8 from the field and scored just nine points against the New York Liberty, one of the best teams in the league, on Thursday night.

Clark actually finished with the most impressive stat line on the team with nine points, six assists and seven rebounds, but she is unable to get shots off like she became accustomed at Iowa.

Meanwhile, Clark’s head coach Christie Sides is already receiving blame for the struggles. Fans don’t believe that she is putting the greatest scorer in college basketball history to succeed.

It is far too early to say that Sides should be gone. The roster around Clark, Katie Lou Samuelson and Aliyah Boston isn’t great. WNBA defenses are already double- and triple-teaming her in the paint and aren’t letting her get open looks beyond the arc. They are hounding her for 94 feet and there is a lot going on that needs to be sorted out.

Ultimately, Diana Taurasi was correct to say that “reality is coming” for Clark on the professional level. The latter has struggled to transition from college to the WNBA thus far and is visibly frustrated.

Clark has always been one to show her emotions on the court. That has not changed.

She got right up in an official’s face to complain about a soft foul call during her first game.

She was visibly seething during the blowout loss in her second game.

Caitlin Clark is unwilling to settle for anything less than perfection. Losing is not acceptable.

And yet, Indiana suffered its worst loss in nearly three years on Thursday.
