During this NFL offseason, the passing game was one of the biggest areas the New York Giants needed to focus on.
Their offense relied heavily on the run game last year between Saquon Barkley’s 1312 rushing yards the 708 yards Daniel Jones ran for at quarterback.
With that in ming, the Giants made some key moves to try and give Jones some better options to throw to.
The first was the move to trade for Darren Waller, which will give Jones a Pro Bowler at tight end.
The next came in the draft, where the Giants spent an early pick on a wide receiver for a 3rd consecutive year.
The Giants spent a 3rd round pick on standout Tennessee wide receiver Jalin Hyatt.
Hyatt joins a crowded Giants receiver room that features veterans Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard and last year’s 2nd round pick, Wan’Dale Robinson.
Right now, it seems like he is struggling to stand out in that group.
According to The Athletic’s Dan Duggan, Hyatt has worked with the 3rd string throughout the Giants’ pre-season program.

It’s definitely not what you would have expected for the Biletnikoff winner early in his career. He had a huge impact at Tennessee this past season and the Giants will be hoping he can do the same for them on the outside with two of their best options being slot receivers.
However, Hyatt has plenty of time to work his way up the depth chart with a couple of months until we even get pre-season action.
It shouldn’t be long before Jalin Hyatt is at least workin with the 2s, but the New York Giants definitely need to hope that he proves himself to worthy of a starting spot soon after they didn’t make a bigger move this offseason to fix a position that was underwhelming last year.
