An alleged prank gone wrong led to the arrest of Auburn freshman linebacker Jamonta Waller on Friday.
Waller, one of the top signees in the Tigers’ 2024 class, was one of several students arrested and charged with malicious mischief after an incident that saw them allegedly steal a school bus and flood a gymnasium.
WLOX in Picauyne, Mississippi reports that over 20 students were involved in the incident.

Jamonta Waller Could Be An Elite Pass Rusher For The Auburn Tigers
Waller chose Auburn after initially committing to Florida.
He was the sixth-highest-rated recruit in the Tigers’ class, which ranked eighth overall according to 247Sports.
“Verified at a shade under 6-foot-2 and 225-pounds plus in February of 2023. Possesses a thick lower half and broad chest to add additional weight to his frame. Lacks the ideal height for a prototypical 3-4 standup OLB role but displays excellent athleticism and arm length for his size to overcompensate,” Cooper Petanga of 247Sports said of Waller. “Exhibits outstanding knee bend and hip flexibility off the edge. Demonstrates an explosive first step off the line of scrimmage in addition to excellent play speed and tempo in his pass rush. Shows the ability to win with short area quickness, suddenness, and power.
“Pro-active mover that plays with very little wasted motion. Every step has a purpose. Thick frame and explosive hands allow him the ability to seal the edge. Flashes active run and chase ability, plus the ability to make plays down the line of scrimmage. Possesses the athletic ability and suddenness to drop in coverage situationally. High motor player that can impact the game with speed, power, and athleticism off the edge.”
Neither Waller nor Auburn head coach Hugh Freeze has issued a statement on the player’s arrest.
