Serena Williams Built A Secret Karaoke Room In Her Insane 14,5000-Square-Foot Mansion Near Miami

Serena Williams’ new 14,500-square-foot home is insane. She and her sister Venus (who owns a world-class design firm) collaborated to design and decorate a sprawling waterfront property located just north of Miami, including a gut renovation of the Spanish Mediterranean-style home. Architectural Digest provided an inside look at the ultra-modern space.

Among the many standout features are a wine cellar that would cost a small fortune if it were an apartment in New York City, a 620-square-foot closet, a room dedicated to all of Williams’ trophies, an indoor/outdoor terrace with an infinity pool and a sauna in the gym. However, one hidden room stands out in particular.

Behind a doorway disguised as a bookcase, the space is reserved for “serious karaoke singers only.”

While the sisters were working on the home makeover, they made sure to include a space that was strictly for the Williams family’s favorite pastime. When it comes to karaoke, the combined 30 Grand Slam winners sing with the intensity of a Wimbledon final. It’s a competitive sport. They love the sing-alongs so much that they would celebrate their U.S. Open wins by battling it out at a private karaoke bar in Midtown Manhattan.

It’s so serious that there are house rules, and a strict ban is placed on “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Love Shack,” “I Will Survive,” and “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

The room, uncommon to most, features a small stage, a luxurious velvet couch and a sign that reads “sérénade.”
