Remember how nice things were back in January of 2020? New year. New decade. 2019 was finally over and the future looked bright.
Then Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi died in a helicopter crash that killed eight people and it was all down hill from there.
The coronavirus then took away our social gatherings, schools, sports and more.
Then, after already stealing our Black Mamba away from us far too early, the gods went and took away our Black Panther Chadwick Boseman. Throw in all of the violence and social injustice and 2020 has definitely been rough. All in all it’s been a pretty horrible year.
But back in January… oh we thought things were going to turn out so much better, oblivious to the horrible things that were awaiting us in the months to come.
This sentiment began catchng fire this week on social media thanks to Twitter user @gabrielgranadoo, according to Know Your Meme, who wrote in Portuguese, “CHAIN A photo of you happy in January 2020 without imagining what was to come.”

A couple of days ago the meme finally made its way to the English-speaking world and off it went, reminding everyone of just how good we used to have it way back in January 2020.
