Former Giants Great Thinks Aaron Rodgers Is Too Soft To Handle The NYC Media

As Aaron Rodgers continues to ponder his NFL future, speculation about where he might ultimately end up increases. And one destination that’s been mentioned more than most is the Jets in New York City.

Just yesterday, in fact, I wrote that Rodgers and Gang Green are a match made in headline heaven, as the 39-year-old would be the perfect ringleader for the perpetual circus that is the Jets, especially considering the fact that playing in New York would give Rodgers the chance to bloviate to the famed NYC media.

Former New York Giants running back Tiki Barber, however, seems to hold the opposite opinion, as he said on WFAN that Rodgers is too sensitive to handle the bright lights of the Big Apple.

“If he is that sensitive that he gets upset that people, reporters, opinion-makers, influencers, whoever, want to talk about him, he is going to struggle in New York,” Barber said.

“And I don’t know if it’s the right fit for him. I don’t know if I want him in New York if this is going to be his reaction to things that don’t matter.”

Barber also called out Rodgers’ seemingly incongruent opinions about privacy: despite apparently craving it, he’s the one who often takes himself out of it. For example, despite his upcoming “darkness retreat” being about solitude, he’s already discussed it on a national radio show twice and is reportedly considering filming the experience.

“If Aaron Rodgers doesn’t want people talking about him, talking about his offseason, talking about his personal life, talking about all these things that are going on with Aaron Rodgers, he needs to stop talking,” Barber said.

At this point, it certainly feels likely that Rodgers will end up in Las Vegas or New York, which will certainly be entertaining for all NFL fans. Perhaps, except, for those respective fanbases.
