Wingstop Has Saved A Ton Of Money Because The Pistons Are Awful At Basketball

Cade Cunningham on the Pistons

The Pistons are currently a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad basketball team, and it’s hard to imagine there are many people associated with the franchise who are satisfied with the current state of affairs. With that said, there may be a sponsor who’s found a silver lining in a losing streak stretching more than 20 games.

The Detroit Pistons still have some work to do when it comes to surpassing the 28-game losing streak that’s currently the all-time mark to beat in the record books courtesy of the 76ers, but it’s not a huge stretch to suggest they’ll get there based on how they’ve looked this season.

There are a number of NBA teams with corporate sponsors who give some fans some extra incentive to root for certain outcomes. Spectators in Philadelphia get free Chick-fil-A if an opposing player misses two consecutive free throws in the second half, while people in Los Angeles are entitled to some tacos at Jack in the Box if the Lakers win a game where the other side scores less than 111 points.

Detroit, on the other hand, has a comparatively straightforward incentive courtesy of the folks at Wingstop, as you can

with an online order at participating locations whenever the Pistons win a game.

Unfortunately, people have only been able to take advantage of that offer a grand total of two times over the course of the current season, with the most recent of those occasions coming all the way back on October 28th.

At this point, it’s very hard to predict the next time Wingstop will have to pay up. As things currently stand, it seems very unlikely the Pistons will be able to walk away with a win against the 76ers or Bucks, and while the Hawks and the Jazz do both have a losing record, they still have the upper hand on paper.

It does seem like more fans are now aware this is A Thing now that they’re being deprived of it, and I can only imagine plenty of people will take advantage and get themselves some free chunks of deep-fried boneless goodness when (or if) that win finally comes.
