Ohio State golfer Tyler Sabo hit one of the most ice-cold shots in NCAA Men’s Golf matchplay history during his Tuesday morning match against Vanderbilt’s William Moll.
Sabo and Moll were the 5th matchup to hit the course in the Vanderbilt-Ohio State match. The two were tied through 12 holes of matchplay golf but the fireworks came on the 8th hole when William Moll hit an incredible shot and stuck it within gimme distance for an easy birdie.
Needing to hit one close, Ohio State’s Tyler Sabo hit his shot about 3-4 feet short of the hole and on the second bounce the ball stopped dead and rolled right back into the cup for an ice cold hole-in-one to win the hole that looked all but lost after Moll’s close shot:

Dude must have ice in his veins to be able to pull off a shot like that in such a high-pressure situation.
As of the time of writing, Sabo is now 1-up through 13 and it’s possible the outcome of the morning matchplay comes down to that match with Gordon Sargent holding a lead over OSU’s Adam Wallin in the match in front of them. Of course, by the time any of you read this article it’s likely the match will be over but I thought it was worth including real-time updates throughout.
My alma mater, the Florida State Seminoles, cruised through their morning matchplay pairings against UNC for an easy 3-1 final with the 5th pairing not even having to finish out their match.
