Putting yips are a very real thing, as are extremely hot and cold streaks with the flat stick, and it can be tough getting back on track on the greens. Golfers will try anything to make more putts with changing putters, changing grips, and changing stance among the most common alterations to make with the putter in-hand, but Sergio Garcia’s new putting style trumps all of those things.
The Spaniard is playing in this week’s Sanderson Farms Championship and is putting with his eyes closed. Seriously, he’s striking his putts with his eyes completely shut.

So, next time you think you’re struggling on the greens, just remember that a major champion is putting with his eyes closed in a PGA Tour event.
It’s clear that Garcia is going thru some serious stuff with the flat stick at the moment, but it’s also impressive that he’s actually holing putts with his freaking eyes closed.
Garcia recently fell outside of the Top 50 in the world rankings for the first time since 2011. Maybe putting with his eyes closed is his secret weapon to jump back into the Top 50.
Garcia shot 4-under in round one of the Sanderson Farms Championship. As his second round is underway, he ranks 52nd in the field in strokes gained: putting, so he’s not putting that terribly, just looking for a new way to get the ball in the hole.
