Better with Keanu Re– actually, okay, maybe not Joker, but you get my point.And according to recent reports, Univeral Pictures — the studio behind the Fast & Furious franchise — also gets the point, as the franchise’s screenwriter Chris Morgan revealed that he’s had a discussion with Reeves about him joining the long-running action series.
In an interview with Screen Rant, the franchise’s long-time writer Chris Morgan has revealed that he’s sat down with Reeves to discuss him potentially joining the forthcoming film.
“I sat down with him and we’re talking about [it],” Morgan said. “I wanted him to be in the Fast universe for a very long time. We’re just trying to find… the hardest thing is always time and competing schedules and then designing the right thing together. My fervent desire is to bring him into this franchise for sure.” [via NME]
Given the franchise’s need for perpetual escalation, it only makes sense that they’d make a play for one of the biggest action stars currently working in Hollywood (and perhaps one of the greatest action stars of the last quarter-century, just think about it — Point Break, Speed, The Matrix, John Wick.)
In addition to the Fast& Furious franchise, Reeves has also long been rumored to be on the verge of joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The still-untitled ninth installment in the Fast & Furious franchise — which just added Cardi B to its cast — is set to be released in theaters on Friday, May 22, 2020.
