A heroic mom in attendance at a Philadelphia Phillies game threw caution to the wind in order to shield her young daughter from being struck by a home run. She reacted quickly as the bombed baseball came screaming in her direction, using the only thing at her disposal to keep her child safe – a plate of nachos!
Video of the cheesy deflection quickly went viral on social media.
The save came late in a Tuesday night meeting between the Phillies and Rangers. In the top half of the eighth inning, Texas slugger Corey Seager launched a line drive home run out to right field.
That shot just got over the outfield wall, landing in the front row of the Citizens Bank Park bleachers.
Initially, there was some confusion about whether or not the ball cleared the top of the fence as it quickly ricocheted back into the field of play. Replays confirmed that it was, indeed, a home run while also showing why it bounced back to the warning track to begin with.
This might be one of Corey Seager’s most memorable home runs

Seen in the video is a young fan, glove in hand, attempting to reel in the laser line drive.
Have no fear, mom is here!
Having little regard for her own safety – or her tasty ballpark snack – the woman used her nachos as a barrier to shield her daughter from the ball.

The aftermath was a crime scene of chips and cheese lined across the outfield grass, which certainly beat the alternative!
One Toronto Blue Jays fan recently showed us just how much damage a baseball can do when it lands a direct shot. Thankfully in this instance, the mom’s quick reaction kept her daughter from potential harm.
