All tournament long, sports fans tuned in to watch Iowa sensation Caitlin Clark. The Junior guard is arguably the best player in the country on either the men’s or women’s side, and is a scoring, rebounding, and assists machine.
The Des Moines native has averaged 27 points, 8 rebounds, and 8 assists for her career, and has a chance to become the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer when it’s all said and done.
This year, she’s been tremendous. The National Player of the Year elevated the Hawkeyes to heights the program has never seen before.Caitlin Clark saved her best for last in the NCAA tournament, breaking numerous records with monstrous performances. In the Elite Eight, she had a 41-point, 10-rebound, 12-assist game, and in the Final Four win over undefeated South Carolina, she went off for 41 again, this time adding 8 assists.
It was the most-watched college basketball game on ESPN since 2008, men’s or women’s, at an impressive 5.5 million viewers. That set the stage for Sunday afternoon’s championship game against Kim Mulkey and the LSU Tigers.
Clark started off the game absolutely unconscious from three, as she made four from deep in the first quarter.

But, the second quarter was all LSU, as bench player Jasmine Carson had the half of her life. The reserve was 7-7 from the floor in the first half for 21 points, as LSU went up, 58-42, at halftime.

Still, after the game, the story was Clark, who had 30 points and 8 assists, albeit on less efficient shooting than she has been. She also set the tournament record for most points in a tournament.
With this bucket, Caitlin Clark now holds the record for most points scored in a single March Madness tournament (186).
