You can’t ask for a much better start to a UFC card.
Azamat Murzakanov entered his uFC Fight Night: Santos vs Ankalaev bout against Tafon Nchukwi with a perfect 10-0 record. He had finished 8 of those 10 wins, but it looked like he was getting neither a finish nor a win going into the 3rd round. After a close first round, Nchukwi really began to pull away in the second as Murzakanov began to look tired. It turned out he had just enough energy left in the 3rd to secure a comeback win.
He landed a couple of big strikes early in the round that sent Nchukwi scrambling backwards and then followed it up in a way nobody could have expected. The light heavyweight absolutely crushed his opponent with a flying knee to secure his 11th consecutive win and first win of his UFC career.

Nchukwi now sees his UFC record to drop to 2-2 and will likely get a chance to bounce back against another UFC newcomer his next time out.
Murzakanov makes his UFC debut count after struggling to find an opponent since his quick win on the Contender Series back in August. The Russian fighter definitely showed some things he needs to work on in this fight, but he also once again proved that he has the KO power to change a fight at any moment.
Murzakanov will now get a step up in competition as he tries to work his way up the UFC’s light heavyweight division.
