Jim Harbaugh maintains his innocence and insists his team did nothing wrong leading up to their championship win.
Earlier this season, the Michigan Wolverines were at the center of a sign-stealing scandal involving a low-level staffer, Connor Stalions, illegally scouting games.
Harbaugh went on to serve a three-game suspension from the Big Ten despite having no evidence that he knew about Stalions’ sign-stealing operation.
On Monday night, Michigan won the National Championship, and Harbaugh was asked about the sign-stealing scandal.
“Off the field issues? We’re innocent. We stood strong and tall because we knew we’re innocent, and I’d like to point that out, these guys are innocent. Overcome that? It wasn’t that hard because we were innocent.”

It is worth noting that the NCAA is still investigating Michigan regarding the sign-stealing scandal and will likely make a ruling in the offseason.
Here’s how fans reacted to Harbaugh’s comment.
We dropped our lawsuit against the Big Ten, fired our linebackers coach in December, and started accusing everyone else of doing the thing we were doing because we're innocent https://t.co/RfLMqTilOD
