NFL viewers aren’t happy with a roughing the passer call in the Dolphins-Eagles Sunday Night Football game. The penalty proved costly on a Philadelphia scoring drive.
With the score tied at 3-3 in the second quarter of action, Miami defensive lineman Christian Wilkins was flagged for a late hit on quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Not everyone agrees.
Even NBC officiating correspondent Terry McAulay questioned the call,
You be the judge.
Was this roughing the passer penalty?. Terry McAulay wasn’t convinced.
“I say he hits him in one step. He actually pulls off with his hands, he doesn’t follow through and blow up the quarterback. This just isn’t enough for roughing the passer.”pic.twitter.com/Nu9eBK2M5N

Fans were quick to blast the call on social media.
“That’s roughing the passer? Come on,” this follower wrote.
“Should the NFL just switch to flag football?” someone else asked.
“It’s time to make ‘roughing the passer’ reviewable… too many ‘no ways’ happening right now! (And it’s extending drives, leading to TDs & changing complexion of games),”
The roughing the passer penalty gave Philadelphia 15 yards and a first down as they moved into the redzone. Had the flag not been thrown, it would’ve been third-and-10 from the 35-yard line. The Eagles would score two plays later on a touchdown pass to tight end Dallas Goedert.
At the halftime break, the Eagles lead the Dolphins 17-10.
