ESPN’s experiment of airing two simultaneous Monday Night Football games isn’t going well.
Earlier, this year, ESPN President of Content Burke Magnus spoke about the reasoning behind having concurrent Monday Night Football games during an interview with The Athletic.
“The thought there is: Can we combine total audience and do a little bit like we used to do in the old days of college football where we create a simultaneous national and regional appeal and use our networks to do that in a single window?
” “Then it combines to sort of like a super audience total number.”Unfortunately, some fans weren’t happy with some of the presentation decisions made by ESPN.
During the games, ESPN decided to show a split screen during extended periods of time which appeared to annoy fans at home.
Dear ABC/ESPN: We prefer to watch one horrible game at a time, so please ditch the split-screen for the rest of the evening.

If ESPN wanted us to watch both these games, they should have scheduled them at different times. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY, likes to watch a split screen. That’s what phones, tablets, computers, or second TVs are for.

Hopefully ESPN listens to fans at home because the split screen has been brutal.
