Mets pitcher Jorge Lopez turned plenty of heads on Wednesday night thanks to the temper tantrum that preceded a postgame interview where he seemingly tore into the team that subsequently designated him for assignment, but he’s attempting to set the record straight after saying his words were misinterpreted.
It’s been a pretty rough season for the New York Mets, who are currently 16 games out of first place in the NL East thanks to the 22-33 record they’ve racked up so far during a campaign where there has been plenty of blame to go around.
On Tuesday, the Dodgers wrapped up a three-game sweep on the road at New York’s expense with a 10-3 victory that saw things go off the rails for the home team in the top of the eighth inning. The two squads had entered the frame tied at three runs apiece, but Los Angeles ended up with a 9-3 lead by the time it came to a merciful end.
Mets reliever Jorge Lopez was only able to record a single out during an outing where he surrendered a couple of hits, a walk, and two earned runs before being ejected for arguing a check swing call, and he capped off his night with a bang by chucking his glove into the stands behind the dugout while heading to the clubhouse.

Things got even spicier when Lopez chatted with the media at his locker after the game and stated he had no regrets
However, Lopez (a native of Puerto Rico who speaks English as a second language) attempted to set the record straight on Thursday when he hopped on his Instagram Story and said he’d been misheard while stressing he was actually calling himself “the worst teammate” in the league due to his actions.
