Bronny James is the most important player in this year’s NBA Draft class. His future could legitimately change the entire landscape of the league if what we have heard about LeBron Sr. is true.
It will be very interesting to see how the 30 teams view the 19-year-old in terms of both his potential and ability to lure his father to their organization in free agency.
By all accounts, it seems like LeBron Sr. is going to stay in Los Angeles. There is some chatter about a return to Cleveland to play alongside Donovan Mitchell. There has long been speculation that whichever team drafts Bronny will also get his dad for the last few years of his career.
Nobody knows for sure.
However, there is very little legitimate thought that LeBron Sr. will not finish out his career with the Lakers. Even if they don’t draft his son.
This is where things get interesting. Bronny did not play much at USC while recovering from a cardiac arrest incident he suffered over the summer and averaged only 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game during his lone season with the Trojans.
He was listed at 6-foot-4 on the roster. He measured-in at just 6-foot-1.5 at the Draft Combine.
There are so many questions about his ability to play in the NBA. Many of the concerns were dispelled with a strong performance at the combine in Chicago. Bronny also interviewed extremely well.
This year’s draft class is pretty weak, so there really isn’t any reason not to take a flier on the offspring of the greatest basketball player of this generation.
Los Angeles seems to agree! Dan Woike of the L.A. Times reported that the Lakers interviewed Bronny at the combine and loved what they heard.
There are 58 picks in the draft. The Lakers hold the 55th pick.
If he is still on the board at that point, it seems inevitable that Bronny James will join his father’s team. The floor is 55!
