Taco Bell Wants People To Throw Taquitos Into A Blender To Make Soup For Thanksgiving And They’ve Officially Gone Too Far

At the risk of pissing off the spirits of the people who celebrated the first Thanksgiving, I’ve always thought the holiday is a little bit overrated, and while I love any excuse to shovel an unhealthy amount of food down my gullet as much as the next guy, I’ve never really understood the appeal of traveling far distances in pursuit of some dry-ass turkey and an inevitable political argument with members of your extended family.

Thanksgiving is also an excuse for people to whip up some dishes that only appear on the table a single time per year (for good reason) and I’ve also never grasped why the hell it’s still socially acceptable to throw marshmallows on top of sweet potatoes or eat turnips in any shape or form.

I’ve celebrated the last couple of Thanksgivings in the safety of my own home and have largely eschewed traditional offerings for foods that, you know, actually tastes good regardless of how “traditional” they may be.

As a result, I’m always on the hunt for recipes to add to my holiday repertoire and recently came across one that will more likely than not earn a spot in my rotation despite the best efforts of Taco Bell.

According to CNN, the chain is attempting to make “taco bisque” a thing and rolled out a step-by-step guide on exactly how to make it, which involves combining some of its rolled chicken tacos (more familiarly known as “taquitos”) with a variety of ingredients before blending them all together into a soupy “treat.”

Taco Bell has rolled out a number of bizarre culinary creations over the years ranging from a burrito filled with Pop Rocks to a taco using a fried egg as a shell, and while I’ve given them a pass so far, I think I’m going to have to draw the line here.

With that said, I made a turkey covered in Hot Cheetos last year and recently whipped up a pizza covered in candy corn so I might cook up a batch of this to see how it measures up.

Wish me luck.
