Grand Canyon Coach Bryce Drew Fixed The College Slam Dunk Contest So That His Player Would Win

Hello, police? Yes, we’d like to report a robbery.

The victim? Eastern Kentucky University basketball player John Ukomadu.

The perpetrators? Grand Canyon University head coach (and March Madness legend) Bryce Drew and player Gabe McGlothan.

You see, Drew and McGlothan teamed up to steal the 2024 college slam dunk contest title away from Ukomadu.

McGlothan and Ukomadu outlasted seven other dunkers to reach the finals. Once there, Ukomadu threw down an incredible windmill dunk while jumping over three people.

The remarkable dunk deserved a perfect score of 60.

And it would have gotten one, too, if not for one man: Bryce Drew.

Not only was Drew’s player, McGlothan, competing in the contest. But Drew also served as a judge for the event. So when the scores went up for Ukomadu’s dunk, you can imagine the controversy when everyone held up a 10…except Drew.

Drew gave the dunk a nine, giving Ukomadu a nearly perfect score of 59.

McGlothan then came up and threw down an impressive dunk of his own, jumping over someone while grabbing a ball from above their head and tomahawking it home.

But it took him three opportunities to do so and he just barely beat the buzzer on his final attempt.

Still, it was enough to land McGlothan a perfect score from the judges and hand him the title of best dunker in college basketball.

Fans, however, were not happy with the blatant chicanery from Drew.

Oh, and in case you think that’s all. The conspiracy runs even deeper.

Thursday’s event was also contested on the campus of Grand Canyon University.

If that doesn’t scream “fix”, then we don’t know what does.

Congratulations to McGlothan. It’s an accomplishment he’ll always be able to remember. But he and Bryce Drew have some serious explaining to do after such a blatant miscarriage of justice.
