In the early hours of Tuesday, October 5, HBO and HBO Max — somewhat quietly considering the hour, as the teaser was tweeted at 5:29 a.m. — released the first trailer for House of the Dragon, the first of the network’s many Game of Thrones prequels.
The series, set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones, is set to follow the civil war between Aegon II and Rhaenyra that destroyed House Targaryen.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, though, Game of Thrones fans — who are still rightfully angry with the way the once-beloved series came to a close back in the Summer of 2019 — still aren’t quite ready to return to the world of Westeros, as evidenced by some of the reactions to the House of the Dragon teaser:
House of the Dragon, which stars Olivia Cooke, Rhys Ifans, Matt Smith, Paddy Considine, Steve Toussaint, Emma D’Arcy, and more, will hit HBO and HBO Max in 2022.
