The Formula 1 had an absolute bombshell dropped on it in the wee hours of Thursday morning.
Sky Sports revealed that seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton is set to leave Mercedes after 12 seasons following the 2024 season.
What’s more is that Hamilton, 39, is set to join the legendary Scuderia Ferrari team and join forces with rising star Charles Leclerc.

On paper, Hamilton is indisputably the greatest driver to ever grace the grid. He’s won a record 103 races and sat on pole a record 104 times. He’s also tied with legendary German driver Michael Schumacher for most drivers championships with seven.
Ironically, Schumacher won five of his seven championships with Ferrari before finishing his career with Mercedes.
The massive news comes just days after Ferrari announced a long-term contract extension with Leclerc. That announcement left the future of current Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz up in the air.

The move marks the culmination of a lengthy pursuit of Hamilton for Ferrari.
While Mercedes now moves forward with another Brit, George Russell, likely to take over the role of No. 1 driver. Ferrari, on the other hand, brings in one of the best drivers, as well as minds, the sport has seen ahead of a major regulation change in 2026.
